Roy frowned, rubbing the back of his head. “I know, kiddo.” He offered a smile. “But he works so much because he loves you and your mom more than anything.” He put a hand on her head gently. “And if he could, he’d spend every waking second with you.” He sighed. “Trust me, he certainly talks about you every waking second.” He smiled more genuinely. “You’re always on his mind—you’re what helps drive him and get through the day back home to you and your mom.”“Yeah.” She frowned, looking up at him, “That’s why I can’t wait to work in the military, too! I want to protect the people I love, just like Dad does!” A faint smile flashed across her lips, “Do you think I could do it? Dad and Mom are scared by the idea, but it’s a huge dream of mine, Uncle Roy!” She chuckled a bit. “I know it’ll be hard work, but I’ll try my best!” Her emerald eyes met his onyx ones, “Plus, there are plenty of other women in the military, too. Like Aunt Riza! She’s strong!”
Roy stayed quiet for a moment as he looked down at Elysia, meeting her beaming eyes. “… Well, they’re not the only ones scared—I am, too” He smiled a little. “I can’t imagine something ever happening to my favorite niece.” He closed his eyes. “But I think you’ll be able to be a fine whatever you want to be—so be it soldier, you’ll be the best there is,” he added with a grin, ruffling her hair. “You still have plenty of time before then, though… just don’t grow up too fast, alright?”
Elysia giggled, “Of course not.” She smiled up at him, “I don’t want to be an adult quite yet! I wan to enjoy being a kid.” The young girl brought a finger to her lips, “What are you going to have for supper? I’m beginning to get a little hungry.” A sheepish smile faded onto her lips, “I forgot to eat before I came over.” She sat down on the sofa, “And when do you think Aunt Riza will be home?”

He chuckled as she pecked him and thanked him. “No problem.” he said. Roy hugged her before departing from her. “Okay, I won’t.” he said. The colonel winked playfully before pulling her into his lap and tickling her. “But daddy can’t save you from the tickle monster!”
Elysia squealed, “S-Stop it, Uncle Roy!” She laughed madly attempting to push him away. “U-Uncle Roy!” She kept laughing in protest before seriously pushing him away, “Uncle Roy, stop! I gotta potty!” She squeezed her legs together, attempting to hold it in.
Roy laughed and ruffled her hair before releasing her. “Okay, we wouldn’t want you to pee on me, now would we?” he said. He let her run off to the toilet and shook his head. Kids. It almost made him want one playing around with her. Hughes was certainly a lucky man.
Elysia trotted out to the toilet, barely making it. She let out a sigh of relief when she was done. After she washed her hands, she came back out to Roy to sit on his lap again. “Uncle Roy… Are you going to have any babies with Aunt Riza? Mommy and Daddy said you’d have cute babies, and I agree!”
